What game can I hunt on your land?
White Tail Deer are our most popular game (our deer population is healthy). We also see Rio Grand Turkeys, javelinas, feral hogs, doves, bobwhite quail, and various varmints including coyotes, bobcats, and rabbits. Depending on the package you purchase and the time of year, the game is yours for the taking while you're here! (And we definitely encourage you to shoot a rattlesnake if you see one.)
Do I have to have a hunting license?
Yes. Whether you are a Texas resident or from out of state, you must have a valid hunting license to hunt with us. This is not negotiable. You can find more info about getting a license online for residents here and for non-residents here.
Wilbarger County bag limit is 2 bucks and 3 does in one season.
Do you allow night hunting?
Sure do. Night hunting is part of any hunting package.
What about bow hunting?
Absolutely. We allow bow hunting, contact us for particulars. Learn more about bow hunting here.
How do I book a hunt with you?
Contact us here. We'll give you a call in 1-2 business days and work out the details. We're a family-owned and operated business so a lot of what we do is still done the old-fashioned way. You'll talk to a human and have all your questions answered right then and there. Our books open for the season on May 1 of the same year.
We do require a 50% deposit to hold your booking; that deposit is non-refundable. We will not hold your desired dates without a deposit.
What happens in the event of inclement weather?
We do everything in our power to make your hunt happen on the days you booked come rain, shine, sleet, or snow. We do not do rain checks. Deposits are non-refundable.
Are hunting blinds available?
Yes. We have a variety of permanent blinds set up around heavy traffic areas and feeders. We encourage hunters to make use of tree lines, fence lines, and other landmarks to get that trophy buck, monster turkey, or unruly pig. The best game often doesn't just stroll up to the blind for easy picking.
What supplies are provided?
Bunkhouses for rent are equipped with running hot/cold water, showers, toilets, electricity, and bunk beds with mattresses. We can sleep up to 13 hunters across five rooms and two bathrooms. Nothing fancy—think of it as elevated camping. Hunters are asked to bring sheets and/or sleeping bags, a towel, a pillow, and any additional personal items needed. The bunkhouses are arranged around a common space with a fire pit in the middle.
Cook shed for rent is equipped with a sink with running hot/cold water, a 3-burner camp stove with griddle, refrigerator, freezer, tables, and chairs. Hunters pack in/out their own food, utensils, cookware, etc.
Hunters must provide their own guns and ammunition and/or bows and arrows necessary for hunting. ATVs are welcome.
The nearest hotels are 20 miles from the ranch in Vernon.
What if I don't get the game trophy I came for?
Part of hunting is the unknown of getting that trophy or not. For some, the thrill of hunting alone is worth the trip.
Mints Ranch does not provide refunds if you go home empty handed.
How do I get to your hunting grounds?
There are lots of ways to travel to us. The entrance to our property is located at 26205 Texas Highway 183 in between Vernon and Seymour. A map of the entrance is here.
